Our Purpose
Under The Localism Act 2011, a neighbourhood forum has the powers to prepare a Neighbourhood Plan and Development Order i.e. it can write planning policies (Neighbourhood Plan) for the area. But more importantly it is a formal group recognized by the Local Authority, which truly represents the neighbourhood and their varying interests. It is an opportunity for interested parties to share ideas and work together to make things better.
The Poole Quays Forum will be a main point of contact for Developers and Poole Council as plans for the area develops and planning applications are submitted.
There is a lot going on in the area. But we could also be involved in other work such as events, place marketing, street management, and neighbourhood watch and community projects. If funding can be found we could commission public realm improvements, provide new open spaces or write a Neighbourhood Plan dictating precisely what buildings and uses we do and don’t want to see in the area.

How We Work
The Forum meets every 8 weeks, during the week (either evening or around lunchtimes). Our working groups focus on specific topic areas and meet more regularly.
Interested in joining us?
Please get in touch through the Contact Us page.
What else would we need to commit?
As little or as much as you or your organisation can afford, in terms of time, money or resources.
Because we want the group to represent the area, there will be no ‘membership fee’. All you will need to commit to is attending regular bi-monthly meetings and sharing your knowledge and ideas.
Not withstanding this, we need to be realistic and will be looking for funding externally and possibly within the group to cover admin costs, and resources in kind. Perhaps you can help organise events or take on a specific (un-paid) role, including a Fundraiser.
